New Agents Need These 3 Tips

Feb 2, 2023

These three tips will take new agents from struggling to success.

Today’s question is: How can I succeed as a new real estate agent? Being a new agent can be overwhelming, and it is hard to know where to start once you’ve chosen your brokerage or team. However, I can help with this! Here are three basic items to focus on to get started:

1. Have a morning schedule. Follow this schedule perfectly Monday through Friday and stick to it even after you find success. My team is at the office from 8:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. During that time, they do role-playing for 15 to 30 minutes, an hour of lead generation calls, an hour of follow-up calls from leads they’re nurturing, and an hour of training. Having a morning routine is the difference between succeeding and failing as an agent.

“Make sure you have all the knowledge you need to launch your career successfully.”

2. Educate yourself and have a mentor. There are a lot of online resources available to you, like YouTube podcasts and webinars, where you can learn from top producers. You can also read new sources like Inman News, MarketWatch, the Wall Street Journal, and local newspapers. Make sure to combine your online education resources with having an in-person mentor who you can shadow on buyer consultations, listing presentations, and transactions. Then they can shadow you and provide feedback. If you combine online education with an in-person mentor, you’ll have all the knowledge you need to launch your career successfully.

3. Knowledge equals leverage. Make sure you are knowledgeable about your local market and the industry as a whole. I get my information from Inman News, Keeping Current Matters, the National Association of Realtors, Realtor.com, and my local MLS.
